| In
an effort to reduce expenditures, the Maricopa County Assessor
will close all four full-time satellite offices across the valley
by the end of Q1 2011. All assessor staff in those offices will
be moved downtown, however, the space at the County Administration
Building was not ample to house everyone so we were forced to
look at other County owned facilities.
Located
only one block south of the 301 West Jefferson building, the
Santa Fe Freight Depot was the perfect alternative. This building
is owned by Maricopa County but had not been occupied for many
years. The Maricopa County Board of Supervisors unanimously
approved the renovations for this historic building, which began
on October 7, 2010.
The
Santa Fe Freight Depot Groundbreaking Ceremony on October 6,
2010 was held in honor of one of Phoenix's very few historic
monuments, which the Assessor is bringing back to life.
Completion
of renovations are scheduled for the end of Q1 2011. To view
