SPATIAL DATA INFORMATION
All data for the Maricopa County Assessor's office is
projected in:
North American Datum (NAD) 83
Arizona State Plane
Central Zone 3176
U.S. Foot
The text for the subdivision names,
lot numbers and dimensions on the map represent the recorded dimension of the
original plat as best as could be captured. The positional accuracy of the line
work varies depending on source data and method of input. Subdivisions after
1994 were input using Coordinate Geometry (COGO), while subdivisions prior to
that date were either digitized off the paper maps or obtained from the local
jurisdictions which had varying degrees of accuracy. The existing digital files
for the cities of Phoenix, Scottsdale, and Goodyear were used directly in
creating our parcel coverage, while the cities of Glendale, Mesa, Fountain
Hills, Paradise Valley, Gila Bend, and Surprise provided digital files that
were used for reference. Where data has been input with COGO, the lines were
not warped in any manner to keep true distances. Control points from various
sources at varying degrees of accuracy were used including Arizona Department
of Transportation (ADOT), Salt River Project, City of Phoenix, City of
Scottsdale and the City of Goodyear. Currently, a more accurate,
county wide control grid (GDACS)
is being developed and will be used by the Assessor's office when complete. For
